History Cruise of Old Bluffton

Ghost Town of Old Bluffton

The town site of Bluffton was built along the banks of the Colorado River in the mid to late 1800’s. Lake Buchanan was completed and filled in 1936 – which left the town of Bluffton 25 feet underwater. In drought conditions when the levels of the lake recede, the town site of Bluffton reappears from the depths of Lake Buchanan. This hidden historical treasure is a must see if you are a history buff.

Our cruise traverses Lake Buchanan to the old town site where we do a beach landing. Your tour guide will take you on an informative walking tour of the remnants of the town site. Walking through the area will give you a real sense of what life was like back in the day along the Colorado River. This is an excellent opportunity to see a real hidden Texas treasure.

Thanks to fluctuating water levels on Lake Buchanan and the Highland Lakes River Chain at times we may be forced to alter or cancel cruises to accommodate the current level.  We will make every attempt to contact you if this becomes the case for the cruise you have booked.

“Our water levels over the course of time have their own rhythm and dance,”  We’ve created cruises to fit most levels.  Some cruises are only available during certain water levels, i.e. The Blufton cruise is only offered when our lake levels are extremely low.
